課程概述

This course is designed to guide students to write logical arguments and to conduct effective research. Step-by-step guidance will be provided to help students see the process of writing. Students will be directed to draft their topic, peer reviewing their writing pieces and to revise their drafts. Students will be exposed to different types of writing experiences: journal writing, summary-response writing, essay writings and project writing.

課程目標
The purpose of this course is to develop students’ abilities to write effective essays and projects, to argue their positions and to persuade others. At the initial stages, students will be guided to select a specific topic of their own in order to conduct a research of their own. Students are expected to learn the skills to draft, to edit and revise their own writing in order to produce a clear writing piece.
課程要求
1. All the required assignments must be submitted on time. No late paper will be accepted. Students must turn in the drafts of composition done in class. No drafts done outside of class will be accepted.
2. All students must be actively involved in all class discussions and exercise work. Any one who is absent from class for three times will automatically fail the course.
3. All students must be responsible for all proofreading work. Any revised paper containing more than three obvious grammatical errors will not be read by the instructor.
4. Any paper which is found guilty of plagiarism, copying or borrowing other's words, ideas or assignments, will get a failing grade in the course.
